My general thought process here is sort of playing on the idea of seeking beauty and meaning in all stages of life. Naturally we come into the world very small, like most things, and gradually grow and change. I want to highlight the significance of each stage from birth to death. Understanding that while all things come to an end, there are always new beginnings budding around the corner.

I really love the images you chose, and I like how you are highlighting the gradual and subtle changes and this is obvious in the photos you took. I especially love the tree trunk with a giant knot in it!

I would be careful about being too literal with the stages of life, try to find a really unique interpretation of that since it is a topic that has been used a lot in art.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the unique textures in your images. They're going to look really nice in your image. I also like how you're going to incorporate new beginnings and budding instead of just focusing on the end of a life cycle.
ReplyDeleteI like the concept, and you've got good shots, but I would make sure to include shots of dead or decaying things as well to complete the conceptual side of it.
ReplyDeleteI like the relationship you have between the flowers, far away tree, and the close up tree trunk and I think you could get something cool playing off of that.
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlin
ReplyDeleteWe need a first stab at an image yesterday? Concept is fine and images a very nice, but we need something to respond to now beyond concept. How will you solve the problem you have stated? Is there a clear single image you can use to convey your concept and build an image around? What would that be from the images you have shown? Critique with Gary first thing Monday.
