The Best Years of Your Life

For my final project I'm thinking of doing a digital image self portrait series and incorporating them into an altered book of sorts. I feel that college is a time when people really change and start to really solidify the people they'll be throughout their life. Personally, I've changed quite a bit since my freshman year, and as a senior who will graduate in May I'd like to honor that transition. I think an altered book is an appropriate medium to communicate this concept of progressive change over time. I'm interested in displaying myself in a variety of ways that will represent different stages of growth I've experienced in the last 4 years.

Daily Lives

The type of narrative image I'd like to produce will reflect our daily routines. We get caught up in the mundane merry-go-round patterns of our lives forgetting each day can be different than the last. The goal here is to highlight the routines we set for ourselves and to reconsider the way we spend our time daily.

cyclical nature #2

cyclical nature #1

A very rough work in progress. I'm working on a couple of other progressions as well.
I accidentally posted this on another blogger account I have last week, forgot I was logged in on to it rather than the one for this class.

cyclical nature of things- Caitlin Thomas

My general thought process here is sort of playing on the idea of seeking beauty and meaning in all stages of life. Naturally we come into the world very small, like most things, and gradually grow and change. I want to highlight the significance of each stage from birth to death. Understanding that while all things come to an end, there are always new beginnings budding around the corner.
